Welcome to my Movie Costume website! This site contains research, reference images, and any "making of" tips and resources for all kinds of different movie costumes. This site mainly focuses on female costumes, though there are a few male ones. If you are looking for Star Wars costume information, please visit my sister site, The Padawan's Guide. If you are looking for Ever After costume information, please visit EverAfterCostumes.com. Please note: No, I do not have every costume ever on this site. There are an infinite number of movies and only one of me. Thanks for understanding and not emailing to tell me why you are disappointed that X movie is not here. :-)

Merry Christmas everyone!
A new Alice promo pic! Woohoo! Thanks to Cleolinda for the alert!
I'll probably be taking a break til after the new year unless anything
special comes up. :-)

Happy Holidays everyone! So, here's the status - I haven't had time to do
anything about transferring the site to a new host yet, but I'm working on
it. I've hit yet another limit, this time in photobucket, where you can
only have 200 albums. So until I can consolidate, I won't be adding new
movies to it. Jennifer did add some new promo images from The Tudors
season 4 - for now they are in a subfolder in The Tudors album.
THanks to Lauren for the images!
I wanted to post some interesting links - The Costume Mercenary's site
that has some cool armor and weapons:
http://characterkit.co.uk/, and her blog that shows her costume work!
http://costumemercenary.blogspot.com/. She did a cool Elizabeth inspired gown, the pics of which should be up
soon. It's inpsired by my favorite costume from the movie, the one from
the beginning with the sash.
Next up, an article on the costumes in Syfy's Alice in Wonderland remake.
Check that out here.
Be sure to check out Verdaera's blog on the Alice in Wonderland Alice
costume. She's got some updates!
http://alice-kingsley.livejournal.com/.
She found another flickr set of pics of the Alice costumes from Costume
Con
here.
Wraith13 found that Hot Topic has a replica Alice necklace. See it
here. If you buy it, be sure to do a google search for "hot topic
coupon" because there are a few out there!
Katie from BoxWish sent some article that
might be of interest:
The Alice Dress reinvented,
Alice in Wonderland inspired jewelry, and
There's a Grace Kelly exhibit with over 50 outfits and costumes
coming to the V&A in London, 17th April to 26th September 2010.

Hi! I have a bunch of stuff to post, but I've been sick and haven't felt
much up to it. I did get a number of recs for webhosts, and I've had one
person (Marie) generously offer me a bunch of space and bandwidth on her
large account. I think I'm going to try that out and see how it works for
us both. It might take a little time both because of being sick and
having holiday obligations. But I'm hoping this will be a good solution.
(So, thanks!)
I'm sick of this host constantly restricting and unrestricting the speed
of my site.
In the meantime, here are a few items. Thanks to Cleolinda for pointing
out 3 new Alice in Wonderland stills:
http://media.movies.ign.com/media/142/14219277/imgs_1.html.
Also, the new trailer is out!

There's a trailer out for the new Robin Hood - I'll be curious to see what
Cate Blanchett ends up wearing.

Aurora Celested pointed out this article on Thistle Hill Weavers which
have made textiles for the movies:

The awesome Clothes of Film site has posts on both Alice and Robin Hood!

Maribeth Keane, the associate editor of The Collectors Weekly sent me a
nice note with a link to an interview they did with the Smithsonian
entertainment history curator Dwight Blocker Bowers. You know how I feel
about the Ruby Slippers and Seinfeld Puffy Shirt! Check out the interview
here:

Ok, that's it for tonight!

Hi all, I'm having problems with my web host. I've been with them for
several years and now all of a sudden, despite claiming to have
"unlimited" disk space, they are restricting my account (and making my
site slow) if I go over some constantly moving amount of disk space. (That
is based on what other people on their sever are using.) When
I first started having issues, it was somewhere around 2.7 GB. Now it's
somewhere around 2.3 GB. I've moved a ton of stuff off the site and onto
Photobucket or onto Padawan's Guide, which is on another account - but
despite reducing the size of the site, I'm right on the edge, and several
times a day, I'm getting notices about my site being restricted and then
unrestricted and then restricted again.
This is incredibly unnecessary seeing as how Gmail will give you 10 GB for
free and photobucket 10 GB for $25/year, and Flickr - I don't even know if
their pro accounts are limited.
Basically, I keep having to move things around, and I don't have the time
for it. I can't add anything to the site anymore - and it's hard to keep
under a limit that keeps moving.
My site does get a great deal of traffic, sometimes over 100 GB/month.
This used to be a big issue, though maybe not these days?
I'm looking at GoDaddy.com - they seem to offer plenty of both disk space
and bandwidth.
http://www.godaddy.com/Hosting/Legacy.aspx?ci=9009#details
Either the Economy or Deluxe. Does anyone else have experience with
either of these? Or know if what they offer is real? Because my current
webhost clearly doesn't mean that they have unlimited disk space. And I
had another one that offered a high amount of bandwidth, but they had a
daily cap. Thanks for any advice you can offer!
And sorry if the site's been on and off slow for a while.

There are 6+ yards of the Sleepy Hollow windmill bodice fabric up on
ebay! It's not exactly the right shade of blue, but from what I can tell,
it's the right kind of fabric! Check that out
here.

The Young Victoria folks provided an interview with Costume Designer Sandy
Powell as part of their "press kit". I've added it here. Check it out!
Verdaera started an LJ devoted to making the Alice in Wonderland costume
from the Tim Burton movie. You can look for her research and making of
here.

Wraith13 sent in some info on Stardust props that are on sale.
She said, I just got the replica of the Power of Stormhold pendant from
Strongblade. Here's the link:
http://www.strongblade.com/prod/sb-sd-pendant.html
They also have Tristan's sword and scabbard here (so tempting):
http://www.strongblade.com/prod/sb-sd-sword.html
I haven't seen the pendant mentioned anywhere on the web and thought
it would be a good addition to the Stardust page. It's on sale for $49
and they shipped it really fast. The pendant is smaller than the
original but has all the details, including the swirly design on the
back.
The new Costume Chronicle's Webzine is out! Check it out here
http://www.hotpinkpetticoat.com/.
The Young Victoria will be out in theaters soon! The Official Fan Page on
Facebook is here:

If you're interested in Erte', the
Martin Lawrence Galleries are having a retrospective exhibit. They tell me
that some of the pieces are quite exquisite and very collectable and that
there are some very rare pieces available in the show. The reception is
taking place December 13th, from 2:00pm Ð 7:00pm. RSVP is encouraged. The
gallery is located here: Universal City Walk, 1000 Universal Studios Blvd.,
Universal City, CA 91608.
Sherry sent this trailer for the Audrey Tatou movie on Coco Chanel. It's
in French, but some nice costumes!

Maria sent in her blog, which has all kinds of cool stuff about costumes
on it.
http://knotsandbaubles.typepad.com/feathers/
This blog is cool too - they always have lots of photos of costume
exhibits. Ariel sent in this link to their exhibit pics from Public
Enemies.

Also, I noticed in the most recent blog entries that they have a ton of
pics of the Twilight costumes.

There was a costume exhibit at the Musei Provincianli di Gorizia in
Italy. They have a little Youtube video of the exhibit. It looks
amazing! It's all movie costumes I believe from Italian designers. You'll
see The Age
of Innosense, Marie Antointette, Brothers Grimm, Portrait of a Lady and
more! Check it out here:

Thanks to Grace!
Here's another thing I'm super tardy on. Schrum Studios sells Wizard of
Oz ruby slipper replica making suplies. This site is really cool. Check
it out here:

If you're interested in Nine (Colleen Atwood did the costume design), Red
Rose sent in a bunch of links.
There's a reheresal montage here, with a good look at some of the costumes:
http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810053986/video/16173837
(you can make it hd to see it in better quality)
And an article here about using swarovski crystals in the costumes:

There's also a feature about the team up with Chopard and Colleen Atwood
here:

I did get the chance to see The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. It's really
terrific, and I loved the costuming. I have a few images in
Photobucket,
with a few more from Starla. More here:
